New 811 Number

Last week Alberta rolled out a brand new number to replace the three numbers for Health Link across the province, making it easier to remember and thus easier to access. This follows previous decisions made in other provinces across Canada where a line to reach a healthcare professional in a non-emergency situation was made widely available. It was only a matter of time before Alberta followed suit.

The new number to reach Health Link is 811. It’s easy to remember and will connect you with registered nurses who are available 24/7 to answer questions about injuries and illnesses. They will ask questions, assess symptoms, and help determine the best treatment for you. Sometimes this means staying at home, heading to a medical clinic, or the emergency room.

And remember, in an emergency situation it is always best to dial 911.
